Study the fundamentals of direct observation to represent the human form in drawing. Using both printed images and live model(s), the class will develop skills to quickly identify the structure and proportions of the human form, and to represent those impressions on paper using a variety of drawing materials. Students will explore techniques in gestural drawing, contour line drawing, rendering in tone, and using representative texture, including a closer look at portrait drawing and techniques for creating a realistic likeness of facial features.
