CERAMICS

One Day Demo Workshop with DAI Exhibiting Artist Elizabeth James!
Saturday, Nov. 6
9am-4pm
$60 ($72 non-members)

Here is a unique opportunity to learn the secrets of ceramics artist Elizabeth James as she demonstrates how she builds forms and addresses surface decoration while experimenting with decals in her installation work. Elizabeth says of her work, “My forms are multiple assemblages that combine contrasting clay bodies, glazes, and surfaces that are not direct representations of this environment but rather borrowed elements or essences. Sensuous surfaces, muted colors, and fluid forms create a quiet relationship meant to entice the audience both visually and physically.” Her exhibit “Borrowed Essence” will be on display in the George Morrison Gallery Sept. 30 through Dec. 5.

Nancy Azara is an artist who has exhibited her sculpture and collages in New York City, where she currently lives, and throughout the U.S. and abroad, most currently at the Andre Zarre Gallery in Chelsea. Her work is carved, assembled, and painted wood along with mixed media collages that reflect subjects about time in relation to memory and personal history. Locally, she has exhibited at the Tweed Museum of Art and also instructed workshops through the Split Rock Arts Program.
