    Create a unique artistic voice through explorative exercises and individual instruction from local painter Karen Owsley Nease. Develop a sense of authorship in your painting by building a cohesive theme and style that is reinforced through composition, color and mark making.  Intermediate Painting, any medium.

    Focus on your interests or experiment with new techniques and take your work to a new level under the guidance of ceramicist Adam Stevenson. Class includes discussions, demonstrations and practical applications of wheel throwing and glazing techniques in a relaxed atmosphere. Class culminates with a gas kiln fire. Previous clay experienced preferred.

    Start with the basics by making a single color print while learning printing techniques you can replicate at home: how to sharpen blades, ink the block, and choose paper and tools. Then take your prints to the next level and work with multiple blocks and reduction.

    Learn with an instructor from Maryland! By using a slow momentum kick wheel and soft clays, van Gilder pursues the casual nuance of form and surface. Van Gilder shares his pursuits through demonstrations in this two-day workshop including tips and techniques for pulling handles, throwing lids, using simple tools and much, much more.     Develop and expand your clay hand-building skills to explore figurative, animal, decorative, architechtural, functional and other applications in clay relevant to your interests. We will review basic hand-building techniques: coil, pinch and slab building the first class session. Students are encouraged to come with ideas/projects to begin working on. Under the guidance of the instructor, students will learn to anticipate structural issues, technical challenges, and how to plan to achieve their vision. The focus will be on using low-fire clay and the application of various glaze material.

    Plein Air Drawing: Color Pencils

    Explore Plein Air drawing by layering and blending shades using a palette of colored pencils. Review basic drawing, composition and color theory principles through morning demonstrations and practice at the Lincoln Building.
